ESSENTIA VISION NORTHLAND
Building in busy urban areas presents unique challenges. Essentia’s Vision Northland project, located in downtown Duluth, required complex excavation strategies to build atop the north shore’s trademark bedrock. Northland worked in tight quarters to excavate down 60 feet—below city streets in several locations. The team implemented large-scale retention walls to stabilize both soil and bedrock during construction of the 942,000-square-foot medical facility.
