Retaining Walls, Break wall and Shoreline Work
The diverse, hilly and rocky terrain the shores of Lake Superior and northern Minnesota and Wisconsin are formidable places to build. Our ancestors were hardy folk to build lives here so long ago. Today, we employ modern construction techniques to master the hills, rocks and shores. Northland has deep expertise in retaining wall and break wall construction, as well as work to reinforce and stabilize our shoreline.
FEATURED PROJECT
McQuade Safe Harbor
One of the biggest benefits of serving northeast Minnesota is the opportunity to work on projects along Lake Superior. The Northland team truly enjoys working along the lake, and finding ways to incorporate natural rock to blend manmade improvements with the shoreline. The McQuade Safe Harbor project involved improving a safe harbor and constructing a large breakwall to allow boats to move in and out efficiently. The Northland team completed this complex scope in addition to supplemental blacktop and concrete work.
Retaining Walls, Break wall and Shoreline Work
Retaining Walls
Flooded roads are hazards, especially during winter. Concrete culverts keep water where it’s supposed to be—flowing beneath the road.
Shoreline Protection and Restoration
Whether its the shores of Lake Superior or an inland lake or stream, effective shoreline management requires experienced professionals. Northland can help.
Breakwall
The purpose of a breakwall is to take the brunt force of battering waves, protecting the coastline behind it. When breakwalls need repair or replacement, trust Northland.
Cofferdams
Temporary cofferdams create safe, dry workspaces on land that would typically be submerged. Northland has deep experience building and working with cofferdams for bridgework and other structural projects.
